Award honors individuals dedicated to agriculture and
innovation throughout Indiana
INDIANAPOLIS – Jim and Tim Craig of James Allen Insurance have been awarded the 2018 AgriVision Award by the Office of the Lieutenant Governor and the Indiana State Department of Agriculture. Now in its 12th year, the AgriVision Award honors individuals who have reshaped agriculture throughout Indiana.
James Allen Insurance has developed numerous proprietary products designed to provide insurance protection to farmers. Jim Craig serves as chief underwriting officer and board chairman, while Tim Craig is the company’s CEO.
Lt. Gov. Suzanne Crouch recognized the Craigs during an awards ceremony Thursday afternoon at the Indiana State Fairgrounds. “James Allen Insurance embodies the core values of family-owned businesses,” she said. “Tim and Jim are both true leaders throughout the agriculture industry in Indiana, and they will continue to share their visionary ideas with farmers around the state.”
Specializing in farm and ranch insurance products for the top agricultural agents in the United States, James Allen Insurance is consistently rounding out coverage in emerging areas of need.
Recently, James Allen Insurance became the first company to offer coverage for Porcine Reproductive & Respiratory Syndrome (PRRS) and Porcine Epidemic Diarrhea (PED) — deadly viruses that threaten swine populations throughout the country.
PED was first introduced to the United States in 2013 and can infect both suckling pigs and mature sows, resulting in a 60-100 percent mortality rate. Agents for James Allen Insurance work with each farmer to create a personalized policy plan for their operations based on the number of sows on their farm. The policy for PRRS and PED covers financial losses of the operation from actual mortality, reduction in weight and reduced value of a pig.
“The industry was in desperate need of this policy. During the past couple of months, we have received significant interest throughout predominantly hog-farming states and counties around the nation,” said Tim Craig. “We deeply appreciate the support from the Lieutenant Governor’s Office and the Indiana State Department of Agriculture and look forward to helping more hog farmers around the nation.”
With farmers facing increasingly new challenges, whether it’s flooding, drought, new regulations or an unstable global market, James Allen Insurance has progressively found solutions to accommodate modern agriculture’s problems and continues to combat economically destructive occurrences with supportive programs in 47 states.
