Carol Craig: Crunching Numbers and Processing Payments since 2000
If a calculator is furiously clicking, Carol Craig is the one making the noise. She is also keeping the books, scheduling payments and all around handling the numbers for James Allen Insurance (JAI). However, this isn’t her first calculator. Carol has been crunching numbers for JAI since 2000 and, if she has it her way, she won’t be stopping any time soon.
Originally from the east side of Indianapolis, Carol attended Cincinnati Christian University. Prior to picking up the calculator at JAI, she worked in employee benefits. But she has spent most of her working years with her husband of almost 50 years, Jim Craig. Jim has been in the insurance business for 45 years and now serves as CFO, board chairman and Lloyd’s of London correspondent for JAI. Carol has had various roles at JAI until becoming manager of accounting and billing services.
On any typical day, you can find her sending coverage quotes, making commission payments, performing banking duties and providing information for tax filings, in addition to juggling surplus lines taxes and annual reports. She provides prompt service to JAI agents, so they, in turn, can do the same for their clients – the end users of JAI products.
According to Carol, balancing books and numbers all day isn’t tedious when you believe in the mission of the company. JAI strives to provide clients with unique agricultural insurance products that many other carriers can’t even imagine. JAI’s products fill the specific needs of farmers while offering coverage for standard row crops, livestock and hobby farms.
JAI not only has the best interests of its clients at heart but also of its internal team. It knows continuous education is crucial in an ever-changing industry and provides its underwriters with educational opportunities to harness the latest knowledge.
When it comes to the future of JAI, Carol is certain that as long as there are farms that need insurance, JAI will be providing them with comprehensive plans to cover their emerging needs.
